Dear Customers and Friends of Providence Produce Market,

As promised, there will be some exciting changes to our 2019 season. While some of these are bittersweet, please know these are decisions filled with love and joy for my family, my company and me. Words cannot express my gratitude for your 17 years of support at our markets. I’ve been humbled by your support since I was a 20-year-old entrepreneur with a dream, and many of you have shopped with me since the very beginning. I first opened on a rainy Saturday in April in the Market Express parking lot with a wooden produce stand that my dad and I built together. My first “market run” was done in my car. Flash forward to modern days and PPM saw a seasonal staff of 100, a fleet of trucks, its own logistics company and a refrigerated warehouse and office headquarters. Y’all sure know how to rally around a local boy.

I’ve met some amazing people, seen some incredible things, learned some valuable lessons, but the time is right for me to focus on important things like family, God, smelling the roses, experiencing Springtime not from the confines of the cab of an 18-wheeler, and so much more.

I am happy to announce you’ll still be able to enjoy the goodness you’ve come to know and expect from our organization.  While we have made the decision to close our Providence Road/ Ballantyne Commons Store as well as our Rock store location in Stallings, we have officially launched our new premium concept:

UNION MARKET
“Everything you love about us, all in one place!”

Union Market will open this April at the site of our Waxhaw/ Weddington Market and will offer “Everything you love about us, all in one place”. With clean, bold new schematics, larger shopping areas, more prepared/ specialty foods and all of the fresh fruits & veggies you love. We are working with top- notch staff to ensure you the highest level of customer service at every turn, and we cannot wait to show you a 3-Season market like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

As for me? I’m looking forward to a little bit of work/ life balance, more time to spend with my wife and family, an opportunity to work on my faith and get to know God in a deeper sense, and time to expand my roots in our other businesses and commercial real estate. I look forward to seeing you at Union Market! I’ll be the one with a big old smile and the phone not constantly ringing.

I would like to take the time to thank our amazing and supportive customers, hundreds of staff members over the past 16 years, Market Express and the Brewer Family, and each and every who have supported 16 years of Providence Produce Markets, Inc.

With that being said, Here’s to the future!
I’ll see y’all at Union Market!
Warmest Regards,

David and Christine White
